More Articles of Interest…

More Articles of Interest

Did you know more articles of interest get posted to our Facebook page then get reprinted here in the blog section?  Why is that?   Simple.  There are more good articles of possible interest than the LEAF Ministry website staff (humor!) have time to work on.  Some actually have day jobs.   With the Facebook “share” feature, it’s mindlessly simple and quick to share content.

If you have a Facebook account,  then “Like Us” and you will automatically see what gets posted.   If you don’t have an account,  create one.  (I hear you groaning!)  The amount of personal information you publish is 100% controlled by you.  You can have an account and zero public persona.   Also, just because you “Like Us” and you see what we post on our page (timeline is the proper Facebook term), that doesn’t mean others looking at your timeline see our content!   You control what they see and know about you.  Just a thought.

OK, enough said.  On to some articles of interest…

271,000 children with an incarcerated parent.   (Some how society doesn’t see this as an issue.)

The Prison-Commercial Complex –  excellent article.

CIIC Report on Prison Food Service and Quality –  If your loved one complains about the food, they are probably justified!   Prison food isn’t expected to be on par with Edwin’s or some other find restaurant but it shouldn’t be worse than the bottom tier of fast food!  (That’s my personal opinion.)  I’ll have more (positive stuff)  to say  about CIIC in a later blog post.

Author offers inmates inspiration.    It’s good to see successful people give back.  I good story.

PD article on getting a felony sealed.   Articles touches on the topic, but more importantly has information about a May 4th meeting covering the topic more thoroughly.

US Attorney General lobbies to make reentry easier.   A step in the right direction!

Medicaid and Reentry –  HHS issues medicaid guidance to improve access to health care for people returning to their communities after incarceration.

Franklin County Opens Self Help Center –  An interesting idea. I hope it’s a success and spreads.

Read an article you think other LEAF families would like?  Send it to us for possible inclusion.

God bless!
